How did you feel when you first understood the assignment?

I felt the responsibility to really pray and seek God on how He would have me use the money. I was leaving on a missions trip to Haiti in less than a week and soon felt called that I should bring it with me and to “stay tuned” on when and how to use it.

How did you decide how/where you’d use the money?

It was the 2nd day of the mobile medical clinics and there was a God reason I didn’t have any patients the 1st chunk of the morning. So I started toggling between different areas praying over where I was supposed to go. I ended up in an exam room with Mike Ungerland as he examined a 22 day old infant that had a deformity on her skull. He determined that she would really need a CAT scan soon to determine the extent of any brain damage. He talked with a local doctor and found that it would cost $100 to have the imaging done.

How did you use the money?

It became quickly evident that I was in that room at that time for a reason when a very specific need of $100 came up. I was overwhelmed in thinking about how God’s sovereignty stretched from Pastor Rex’s heart for compassion all the way to this infant’s need in Haiti and I was so blessed to be a witness along the way.
