Our membership covenant

I will love, honor, and obey Jesus Christ above all else in my life. Understanding that my life is my ministry, I will seek to represent Jesus well at all times.

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.’ ” Matthew 16:24-25

I will learn and practice the disciplines of corporate and private prayer.

“…and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

I will become a consistent student of the scriptures.

  • Hearing
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17
  • Reading
“To be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees.” Deuteronomy 17:19
  • Studying
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
  • Memorizing
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:9, 11
  • Meditating
“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8

Whenever I am in the Capital District, I will regularly participate in public worship, celebration and fellowship with the corporate body of believers called Grace Fellowship.

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

I will tithe at least 10% of my income to support the Lord’s work.

“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. ‘Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.’” Malachi 3:8-10

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.” Matthew 23:23

I will build meaningful relationships that lead to spiritual growth.

I recognize that significant relationships with other believers are crucial for my spiritual growth. Therefore, I will commit to join with other believers on a consistent basis for the purposes of Christian fellowship, discipleship, personal accountability, and pastoral care.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

I will discover the talents and gifts God has given me and I will serve in at least one ministry through the auspices of Grace Fellowship.

“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:4-8
