I pray for an office that’s not also someone’s bedroom. I pray for a workday where I can focus on work, rath than having to divide my attention and time between work and parenting. Even if neither of these prayers are answered, I pray for freedom from debt, as soon as possible. I also pray for the means and insight to do good things for others. What can I do? How can I change the trajectories of other people’s days, lives, etc? Can I do this even if I never change my own, and always live small, in my little home that I share with my wife, our two kids, and my in-laws, teleworking in the same role at the same job that I’ve been in for 10 years now? What can I do toda, tomorrow, and the next day to change the quality of my own life, and of my family’s lives, for the better? How can I express more love toward my wife and kids, and how can I help beyond my own home?

Dear Fellow Prayer Warriors, Thank you for those who have responded to my prayer request and those who may in the future. I requested prayer for my dear friend who had flown to NY for a possible ALS diagnosis. I am deeply sadden to report that the diagnosis of ALS was positive. I am asking for many prayers in the future for my friend on this journey with ALS. I asked God for a miracle or for a very rare event that I read about where only a handful of people with ALS had the progression stop and the symptoms began disappearing over several months. God is a good God and he works miracles every day. I trust His will.

I sent a prayer request in the small hours of this morning, and I wasn’t terribly clear. What I pray for is good, vigorous health, and soon. For me, for my two young sons, and for my wonderful, big hearted wife. My older son has had an almost unbroken series of colds since September, and they’ve gotten pretty severe a couple of times. His breathing gets very labored and his heart works very hard, too. Mostly I just wish him a stretch of time where he sleeps in comfort at night. I wish my younger son comfort, too. He’s had several colds this winter, too, and it’s a struggle to keep him hydrated. I pray for a solution to that. It would relieve some pressure from my wife. And for myself, I’ve had colds since November, and two painfully blocked ears since my birthday 2 weeks ago. I pray for health. Even more than for my own health, I pray for the geace, energy, and inner strength to lead my family, even, and maybe especially, in a season of sickness, discomfort, and fatigue. Thank you, God, for the constant blessings I receive every day that I get to spend with these incredible boys and their mother. From the bottom of my heart, Amen.
