Unity House

Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in their community who are hurting and struggling. They assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays.

Serving Opportunities:
Bethany Community Resources Soup Kitchen – Assist in the various tasks associated with serving a meal to large quantity of people, including preparation, serving, clean up, etc; available seven (7) days a week 10:30am – 1pm

Blood Pressure Clinic – Medical Professionals would set up a clinic to take blood pressures; based on availability Monday – Saturday

School Physical Clinic – Medical Professionals would set up a clinic to help families get the needed physicals for their children to be able to attend school; One or two Saturdays in July or August, 9am – 3pm

Financial Counselors/Coaches – Assist women, men and families with financial counseling; experience and financial training required; 2-4 counselors needed at a time, based on availability during the work week, 8am – 5pm

Intake Volunteers – Record information that is needed to obtain help for individuals; based on availability Monday – Friday during office hours (8am-5pm)

Development Office Database Input – Assist in entering information into the database; based on availability Monday – Friday during office hours (8am-5pm)

Administrative Help – Assist management team in carrying out weekly functions; based on availability Monday – Friday during office hours (8am-5pm)

Domestic Violence Shelter Receptionist – Provide desk coverage in a professional and friendly manner to all who may call or visit; based on availability Monday – Friday during office hours (8am-5pm)

Domestic Violence Shelter Meal Prep – Preparation, setup and cleanup; based on availability 7 days a week

ReStyle Thrift Store Clerk – Run the register and assist consumers; Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm

ReStyle Thrift Store Clothing Sorter – Sort and organize donated clothes; Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm

Food Pantry – Help organize, sort and assist consumers; Monday – Friday, 9am – 1pm

Fall Cleanup & Maintenance – Landscaping, gardening and minor building maintenance; one Saturday in October for 3-5 hours

Planning Committee for Annual Gala Event – Assist with the planning of the gala event; January
