Have you met Jesse Renaud? He is our Director of Spiritual Formation at Grace Fellowship Latham. We asked him some questions to get to know him better!⁠

What is your life verse and why? ⁠
⁠
I wouldn’t say that I have just one life verse, but a passage that I have often gone back to is Colossians 1:13-14. "He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” I love and need the reminder both of what I have been brought out of, and what I have been brought into because of Jesus! Not only do we have personal redemption and forgiveness, we have literally been plucked out of a kingdom of darkness, shame and destruction and transferred into an eternal kingdom of everlasting light, unending grace and abundant life. I’m amazed every time I think about it. ⁠

When did you know God was calling you into ministry? ⁠
⁠
God’s calling me into ministry was a gradual process that I mostly discerned as I took small steps towards it. People in my life encouraged me towards it and validated me in it as I stepped out and I grew to love it. One of the things I love about the way God works is that he knows us so intimately and works with our personalities to lead us. God led me into many things in my life, including ministry, in ways that very much fit the ways he has specifically wired me. ⁠

What is your favorite part about being a Director of Spiritual Formation?⁠
⁠
First of all, I just love the idea of spiritual formation. None of us has arrived spiritually this side of heaven. We are all a work in progress. We are all in need of continual growth and increased understanding of God and what it means to live as a follower of Jesus. Spiritual formation is the idea that we are being formed more and more into the likeness of Christ as we follow him. No two people are exactly alike and no two spiritual journeys are the same. I love that in my role I get to partner with ministries within the church that are a part of this process in people’s lives and I love hearing the stories of how God is changing people and working in powerful ways in them!
